On June 15, 2009 Parkland announced it had entered into an agreement to acquire the fuel distribution business of Columbia Fuels Ltd. Headquartered in Victoria BC, Columbia was a fuel distribution company specializing in home heating oil, bulk petroleum and bio fuels and operated bulk fuel terminals on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast region of British Columbia. The acquisition was effective June 1, 2009 and closed on June 16, 2009.
In 2007 Parkland acquired the Neufeld group of companies in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Joy Propane in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, United Petroleum Products in Burnaby, British Columbia and the business assets of Oliver Propane in High Prairie, Alberta and Roblyn Bulk Sales in Edson, Alberta. These acquisitions added to our wholesale and commercial fuel volumes and also provided a foothold in the sale and distribution of other products. Propane is supplied for farm use, residential heating and oilfield production sites. We now have a significant lubricants and oilfield fluids distribution business in western Canada as well as marketing propane and agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and farm chemicals. As of December 31, 2007 Parkland operated 23 distribution centres offering some or all of these products across northern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia. The customer base for these products is varied with the largest group being conventional oil production followed by agricultural, oil and gas exploration, residential, forestry and heavy oil production.
In addition to the retail channel of trade, Parkland supplies commercial customers through a chain of 31 cardlocks. Parkland also sells to independent resellers who in turn supply retail operators and commercial customers. These arrangements allow us to fully utilize our supply capacity.
This business segment provides diversification and decreases the seasonality of Parkland's cash flow. The commercial operations are seasonally strong during the fall and winter months while the fuel business is strong during the spring and summer driving seasons.
Neufeld Petroleum and Propane branded operations are located across Northern Alberta and British Columbia. Cardlock and bulk fuel sales are provided as a Petro-Canada branded distributor or under the Neufeld banner. Propane sales and services are available at all locations serving the oil and gas, commercial and residential markets with some locations offering additional services including auto propane conversions. A number of locations are distributors for Petro-Canada branded lubricants or a licensed distributor of petrochemicals, methanol and glycol for nationally recognized manufacturers, which enables us to meet the needs of our customers for fuel, propane and lubricants and oilfield supplies and products as a one stop service provider.
Neufeld has expanded its operations into Southern Alberta with the acquisition of two new branches in Taber and Foremost.

United Petroleum Products serves the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Interior and northern British Columbia with quality lubricants, cardlock and bulk fuel sales. As a distributor of bulk and packaged lubricant products, including branded products from 76 Lubricants, Kendall Motor Oils, Phillips Aviation Lubricants and Quaker State, we are able to meet the needs of customers in the automotive, commercial, industrial, logging and mining industries. Fuel sales are conducted under the brands of United Petroleum Products to dealer owned retail locations and the United Petroleum Products and Sun Valley brands for bulk and cardlock fuel sales.

Columbia Fuels, based in Victoria, BC, is the largest supplier of home heating products on Vancouver Island and the West coast of BC.
